November 15, 1942. Notre Dame quarterback,Brady Quinn, infiltrated deep into Nazi Germany under a hunch that he broke the Enigma code. As a result, captive prisoners of war were freed and munitions stockpiles were destroyed. While in Eastern Europe, Quinn took time to train a young sniper, Vasily Grigoryevich Zaitsev, aka "Zikan", who was later credited with at least 400 kills over the course of the war. Much of this heroic work in the spirit of justice lead to the eventual German tank batallion's ineffectiveness and the German army's loss at Stalingrad (along with 149 kills by Zikan) early the next year.
